Digital 20/20 is a regional partnership working collaboratively to build a strong digital economy in Yorkshire and Humber. Born out of the Digital and ICT Skills Action Plan for Yorkshire and Humber 2005-2009, the partnership has become embedded in the development of the region bringing together industry, employers, education and training providers, public service providers, policy and funding bodies.
Digital 20/20 is active in the following areas:
- Education and skills – improving the level of individual and corporate IT skills in the region
- Business – driving adoption and strategic use of IT for competitive advantage
- Public services – addressing the urgent task of how to offer ‘more with less’ through use of technology
- Community – harnessing the potential of digital participation to enrich individual and community life
Digital 20/20’s work includes:
- Leveraging funding and maximising value from public spend
- Supporting regional roll out of national programmes to meet local needs
- Identifying synergies between regional know-how and resources
- Providing specialist input and contributing ideas to plans and bids
- Running knowledge sharing events and brokering collaboration
- Horizon scanning and reporting on the implications of technology trends
- Keeping a watching brief on learning and skills provision in the region
- Advising on the implications of emerging industry developments and future jobs
Supported by Yorkshire Forward and managed by a specialist team, Digital 20/20’s activities are steered by three key partnership groups representing industry, business, local authorities and other front-line service providers:
These Groups oversee two key Action Plans that frame and shape Digital 20/20 activity:
- The Digital and ICT Skills Action Plan
- The Business ICT Adoption Action Plan which has now become the Transformational ICT Pilot
