Digital 20/20 is working with the Sector Skills Councils e-Skills and Skillset to help Apprenticeships to flourish in the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
Apprenticeships are gaining recognition and additional funding as an important means of meeting employer needs for skilled and affordable staff and offering young people relevant industry training.
Research shows that:
- 80% of apprentices will still be with employers after 5 years versus 20% of graduates and less for experienced staff
- IT apprentices pay back return on investment in just 12 months
In the IT and Creative Industries Sectors many businesses are small to medium-sized and most staff need higher level skills. Now there are new models of Apprenticeship that address these requirements. The aim is that these innovative approaches will help businesses to take on more apprentices.
