CMALT

CMALT (Certified Membership of the Association for learning Technology) offers accreditation for education staff who use technology in teaching and learning.  Many people have taught themselves IT skills as and when they seemed useful in their work, but have no certification as evidence of the skills they have acquired; no piece of paper to prove they have any expertise in e-learning.  CMALT offers the chance to provide this evidence and a certificate that can be very useful in job applications. Since it is based on assessing prior learning and reflecting on the use of IT by completing a portfolio, there is no obligation to take a course teaching skills that might never be used.

Digital 20/20 seeks to help people and organisations in Yorkshire and Humber to exploit the potential of digital technology so, for one year, we are helping teachers, trainers and IT support staff to gain CMALT by paying half of the certification fee – £47.50, reduced from its usual £95.00.  Anyone working in education and training in Yorkshire and Humberside (including Adult & Community Learning and Work Based Learning) is eligible to register for CMALT under this initiative.  We would encourage managers to pay this reduced fee for staff wishing to develop their use of IT.  Up to 150 CMALT registrations can be funded under this initiative, with places allocated on a first-come first-served basis…so be quick!

We are also providing a series of free one-hour workshops to help people get started on CMALT, run by CMALT-holders.  The next one is:

27 April 2010, workshop at University of York with Wayne Britcliffe, Matt Cornock and Richard Walker. To register for the workshop, go to http://www.alt.ac.uk/events.php .
