Digital Community Vision
People talk about technology as an enabler for seamless public services and joined up communities, but there are few if any examples of joined up thinking and implementation.
Part of the problem is that such an all-embracing strategy would need to be designed and rolled out by a number of public sector partners working together. Who should take the lead? How do leaders of public services who hold budgets know what technology solutions work? Are there any guiding principles or existing examples for developing a strategy?
Digital 20/20 is working with colleagues from Local Strategic Partnerships and Local Authorities who are concerned with empowering community-wide development and social inclusion to look at five key areas – quality of life...vibrant economy...strong community...improved services...efficiency savings – and how technology is already making a difference on the ground in the UK.
The aim is to identify the building blocks for making a digital community strategy – creating a framework that could be replicated in different communities – and at the same time to identify examples of technology solutions that fit the framework and are already known to work.
